Families came with children. Teenagers came with friends. Neighbours came because a flyer caught their eye.<\/p>\n<h2>What happened on the day<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A community panel on culture, identity and belonging in Simcoe County<\/li>\n<li>Youth speakers at the podium, several of them for the first time<\/li>\n<li>Live cultural performance and drumming<\/li>\n<li>A full marketplace of local caterers, skincare makers, bakers and stylists<\/li>\n<li>An official proclamation presented by the City of Barrie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The measure of the day was not the turnout.
